Washington. February 15th. INTERFAX - Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate on the situation around Ukraine and on security guarantees for the Russian Federation, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told CNN.
"First of all, President Putin has always demanded negotiations and diplomacy," Peskov said.
"And in fact, he initiated the issue of security guarantees for the Russian Federation," the spokesman said.
According to him, "Ukraine is just part of the problem, part of a more serious problem of security guarantees for Russia."
"And, of course, President Putin is ready to negotiate," he added.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said that the US administration is ready to continue negotiations with Russia on controversial issues.
