MOSCOW, Feb 14 - RIA Novosti. The heads of the leading veteran organizations of the Russian Federation made a statement in support of President Vladimir Putin's initiatives to ensure Russia's long-term security.
The veterans noted that they share the concern of the leadership of the state about the consistent activities of the United States and NATO in Europe, which, in their opinion, poses an immediate threat to the military security of our country.
"The desire of the North Atlantic Alliance to forcibly draw Ukraine into NATO with the help of the puppet Kiev regime is a critical feature for the fundamental interests of European security, but above all for the centuries–old alliance of the fraternal peoples of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine," the statement says.
In addition, the authors of the document stressed that they consider Russia's demands to the collective West to be fully justified on the need to legally consolidate agreements on the non-deployment of strike weapons systems by the United States and other NATO countries that pose a threat to the Russian Federation on the territory of any neighboring countries that are or are not members of the North Atlantic Alliance.
The veterans also called on their colleagues to unite for the sake of the country's future, noting that this must be done despite "existing political preferences, as well as attempts to split and destroy the officers' brotherhood."
The appeal was signed by Chairman of the Council of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Army General V.F. Ermakov, Chairman of the Russian Union of Veterans, Army General M.A. Moiseev, Chairman of the All-Russian public organization "Russian Union of Reserve Officers" E.V.
