Washington. February 13. INTERFAX - There is still time for a diplomatic solution to the problem around Ukraine, but it is getting smaller, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said.
"We have said, and we still believe today, that there is still time and space for a diplomatic way forward. We still think there is a way to help de-escalate tensions here, to find a peaceful way to avoid war in Ukraine," The Hill quoted him as saying.
At the same time, he commented on the attempts of European countries to find a solution to the situation with Ukraine.
"I do not know if I would call them the last desperate (attempts - IF), but of course, we recognize that in this sense, time is decreasing. And this gives us all cause for concern," Kirby said.
He also repeated the US position that now military operations in Ukraine can begin any day.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the United States is artificially inflating the situation in connection with the allegedly planned Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia does not understand why the Americans are transmitting deliberately false information about this to the media.
