Russia and Belarus have launched joint exercises "Allied Resolve - 2022" to test the reaction forces of the Union State. The maneuvers take place at combined-arms training grounds in Belarus. On Thursday, February 10, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
"On February 10, the joint exercise "Allied Resolve – 2022" began at the combined arms ranges of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus as part of the second stage of the verification of the reaction forces of the Union State," the ministry said in a statement.
The exercises are arranged for high-quality testing of tasks "to suppress and repel external aggression during a defensive operation, as well as counter terrorism and protect the interests of the Union State," the Defense Ministry said.
During the military exercises, the security of the state border will be strengthened in order to stop attempts by militant groups to infiltrate, block the delivery of weapons and ammunition. The Russian and Belarusian military will find and neutralize conditional illegal armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
The exercises will be held at the Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brest and Osipovichi ranges in Belarus. The airfields of Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi will be used for aviation.
According to the agency, the maneuvers involve the governing bodies, units and military units of the Eastern Military District and the armed Forces of Belarus.
At the beginning of the "Allied Determination", the redeployment was carried out, groups were created in the threatened areas, the protection of significant state and military facilities was organized, the protection of airspace was strengthened within the framework of the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Belarus and Russia. The administrative bodies and military units of the Eastern Military District regrouped over a distance of about 10 thousand km.
Earlier, on February 3, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said that one of the goals of the joint exercises of Russia and Belarus is the need to strengthen the border with Ukraine. He also clarified that Minsk is ready to create new combat training centers with Moscow to master the latest weapons. According to the President of Belarus, the country "again, it is critically important to master them and be able to use them."
