According to the organization, only since January 2022, the United States has supplied about 650 tons of ammunition and military equipment for various purposes to Ukraine
MOSCOW, February 10. /tass/. There is a threat of a constant escalation of the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine against the background of arms supplies to Kiev from Western partners. This was stated on Thursday at a briefing by the chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov.
He noted that a "characteristic indicator" of the West's influence on the construction and development of the Ukrainian armed forces is their "bringing to NATO standards."
"For the implementation of the planned plans, external financial and advisory assistance is actively involved, contracts for the supply of weapons and military equipment are concluded. Only since January of this year, about 650 tons of ammunition and military equipment for various purposes have been delivered from the United States," the head of the CSTO Joint Staff said. "Against this background, the armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine continues to have a significant impact on the state of regional security due to the constant threat of its escalation."
Sidorov pointed out that now foreign servicemen, representatives of American and European private military companies are stationed in Ukraine, infrastructure facilities are actively involved, "combat and special flights, including strategic, bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, are systematically carried out."
The head of the CSTO Joint Staff drew attention to the law on national resistance adopted by the Kiev leadership, as well as the decree of President Vladimir Zelensky dated February 1 on strengthening the country's defense capability, according to which it is planned to increase the maximum number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by 100 thousand people over three years and create 20 additional military brigades. "In 2022, it is planned to increase defense and security spending by more than 30%," he continued. "[All this] indicates that the country's leadership has no desire for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the southeast."
