With the mediation of officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties in the Syrian province of Rif-Damascus, the process of settling the status of residents and deserters continues. On Thursday, February 10, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
In the Al-Maddamiyya district, a reconciliation point was organized right in the building of a local school. Several classrooms have been equipped with classrooms where former deserters, evaders, militants and their accomplices are tested before receiving an official pardon. The reception is conducted by representatives of local special services, military police, court and prosecutor's office. The work of the commission is being monitored by representatives of the Russian group of troops in Syria.
Hammad Nahlya, a participant in the amnesty procedure, deserted from the army.
"I was a military man, terrorists attacked my unit, as a result, I was very scared and left the location of my unit… My father went missing, and I was the only breadwinner. Now I have come here to reconcile in order to join the army again and live a normal life," Nakhlya tells Izvestia.
The representative of the Russian group of troops in the SAR, Nikolai Tereshchenko, notes that people with different backgrounds come to reconcile: not only deserters, but also "civilians who participated in illegal armed formations, but they do not have murders and articles with heavy robberies, and people who were in opposition are reconciled." According to Tereshchenko, today they all realized that the government is united and carries out reconciliation measures for further life and everyday life on the territory of Syria.
Over the past day, more than 70 residents have received new documents in the building of the local police station in Al-Maddamiyya.
The electronic database of persons who have settled their status is updated with new names every day. An active reconciliation process is now underway in the southern provinces of Daraa and Rif-Damascus. About 3.5 thousand people have already gone to meet the official authorities here. At the moment, they want to reconcile and will soon come to the commission as many more.
Earlier, on January 28, the CPVS brought 5 tons of food to four settlements in the Syrian provinces of Hama, Homs and Idlib. In each of the four villages where humanitarian aid was delivered, the distribution was organized in such a way as to avoid a crush. It was held in school buildings.
The CPVS added that due to unusual frosts for local latitudes, representatives of the center have to work seven days a week and help residents cope with the cold.
