Moscow hopes that the escalation of the situation in Ukraine will not reach the need for a military response from Russia
Moscow. February 9th. INTERFAX - Russia hopes that the escalation of the situation in Ukraine will not reach the need for a military response from Moscow, calls on the United States not to bring the situation to a standstill with the supply of anti-missile systems, said Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.
"You are probably asking me about diplomatic measures. Others will tell you about other measures, if they want to tell you, but I hope that this will not be escalated to such an extent," Pankin said at a session of the Valdai club, answering a question about what Russia's response might be if THAAD is deployed in Ukraine.
He stressed that Russia calls on American colleagues at all levels, including at the highest, "not to do stupid things, behave cautiously, not to use the situation to lead it further and further into a dead end, from which it will be difficult to find a way out."
"We will use further diplomatic methods on our part, and our colleagues will probably take care of others," the deputy minister added.
Earlier, the media reported that the United States is working on the possibility of supplying THAAD anti-missile systems to Ukraine.
