INTERFAX - The United States, by supplying weapons to Taiwan, not only violates the principle of "one China", but harms the security of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese army is ready to stop all attempts by external forces to interfere in the internal affairs of the country, the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China said.
"US arms sales to Taiwan are a serious violation of the one-China principle and joint communiques (on the establishment of diplomatic relations), gross interference in the internal affairs of the People's Republic of China and damage the sovereignty and security interests of China," the ministry said in a statement.
It protested against these actions by the United States and stressed: "The People's Liberation Army of China will take all necessary measures to resolutely protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity, resolutely stop any forms of interference by external forces and separatist plots aimed at "Taiwan independence", and will continue to promote the process of reunification of the Motherland."
The statement says that China urges the United States to stop selling weapons to the Taiwanese regime, sever military ties with it and "stop sending wrong signals to the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence" so as not to cause serious consequences for military relations between China and the United States, peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."
