MOSCOW, February 8/ Radio Sputnik. The command and staff exercises "Blizzard-2022" on the management of groups of troops during combat operations have begun in the Ukrainian army, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported .
"The exercises are a planned event within the framework of the general intensive training program of troops (forces). So, during the past year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted almost five thousand combat training events, including 70 command and staff exercises involving troops and over 2.5 thousand tactical and special exercises of various types. This year, the combat training program is no less intense," the commentary says.
The main purpose of the maneuvers is "to acquire and build up operational capabilities ... of military units and subunits ... to manage troops (forces) during defensive operations in a crisis area."
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Ukraine received missiles from the UK "to protect" from the Russian Navy in the event of an escalation of the situation.
