The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation said that after the exercises, the troops will return to their permanent locations
MOSCOW, February 8. /tass/. Russian troops will leave Belarus after the end of the exercises, there was never any talk that they could stay, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, told reporters.
"No one has ever said that Russian troops would remain on the territory of Belarus, this was never discussed," Peskov said.
"We are talking about allied exercises and, of course, it is assumed that upon completion of these exercises, the troops will return to their permanent locations," he added.
Peskov was also asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin really agreed not to conduct new military maneuvers near Ukraine at talks with French leader Emmanuel Macron in Moscow. "I have not heard such reports," he said in response to a question whether such publications are true.
