Minsk. February 8. INTERFAX - Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich promised to give a fitting rebuff in the event of NATO aggravation of the situation on the border.
"In case of aggravation of the situation, we are ready to give a worthy rebuff. This was reported in detail to the President of Belarus by the leaders of the power bloc. With the intensification of NATO's military activity near our borders, the armed forces have planned to increase strategic deterrence measures," Volfovich said on Tuesday after the Security Council meeting, as quoted by BelTA.
"We have taken into account the events that took place in Belarus in August 2020. We have drawn additional conclusions from the situation in Kazakhstan in 2022. All subjects of the national security system have planned measures to ensure security during the preparation and holding of the referendum (on the Constitution)," the Secretary of State said.
"The Head of State rightly stressed that the collective West does not like the sovereign policy of our country. We are witnessing unprecedented pressure on Belarus. Destructive forces are trying to shake up the situation in society by any means," Volfovich said.
