Brussels. February 8. INTERFAX - Further expansion of NATO does not meet the interests of world security and stability, the Chinese delegation to the European Union said.
"30 years after the end of the cold war, NATO continued to expand regions and spheres of activity, participating in group politics and factional rivalry, which did not contribute to security and stability in the world," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
It says that, according to China, "regional security cannot be guaranteed by strengthening and expanding military blocs."
China calls on NATO to "abandon Cold War thinking and ideological prejudices, respect sovereignty, security, interests and diversity of civilizations, history and culture of other countries."
