London. February 8. INTERFAX - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that Russia's actions against Ukraine are forcing NATO to strengthen its position in Europe.
"If it (Russia - IF) launches another invasion, it will force the West to carry out much of what it seeks to prevent. In fact, this is already happening," says Johnson's article published in The Times.
The prime minister said that as a result of tensions over Ukraine, "America, France, Italy and other allies are deploying forces on the southeastern flank of NATO, just as the UK is strengthening the northeast."
In particular, he said that London is considering sending Typhoon fighters and warships to protect Southeastern Europe.
At the same time, Johnson noted that the possibility of resolving the Ukrainian crisis by diplomatic means remains, provided that Russia ensures the "de-escalation" of the situation.
