Biden and Macron discussed the situation around Ukraine
US and French leaders Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron held a telephone conversation on the evening of February 6. During the bilateral talks, the presidents raised the issue of Ukraine's security against the background of the accumulation of troops near its borders with Russia and Belarus. This is reported by the "Observer" with reference to the statement of the press service of the White House.
Both politicians are aware of the reality of the dangerous development of events and are ready to exert any available influence to prevent escalation.
"The leaders reaffirmed their mutual support for the integrity and sovereignty of the Ukrainian territory. They agreed that their teams will keep in touch and continue consultations with our allies and partners, including Ukraine itself," the message reads.
Recall that representatives of NATO countries deliberately do not specify methods of influencing Russia in the event of its invasion of Ukraine so that the aggressor would not have the opportunity to prepare and sanctions would cause maximum damage, having a deterrent effect.
As previously reported by the Observer, French President Emmanuel Macron will visit his colleagues in Russia and Ukraine this week. He will meet with Vladimir Zelensky the next day after talks with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
