The first plane carrying American soldiers landed on Saturday morning at Rzeszow-Jasenka Airport in southeastern Poland. Initially, it was planned that the second plane would arrive on Saturday at about 14:00 local time, but later the American side decided to postpone the flight to Sunday. She did not report the reasons for the transfer.
The Pentagon announced this week that US President Joe Biden has officially approved the deployment of 3,000 US troops to Poland, Germany and Romania as part of efforts to support NATO countries in Eastern Europe.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that about 2 thousand military personnel will be transferred from the United States to Poland and Germany. In addition, about 1,000 of the German-based military will be transferred to Romania. Kirby said the rotation will be implemented in the coming days, but on a non-permanent basis.
