The base of the Turkish military in Iraq fired MLRS disguised as a civilian truck
The Turkish military base of Zlikan in Iraq was shelled on Thursday, February 3. An improvised multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) with guides that were hidden in the back of a civilian dump truck was used for the attack. This is reported by Army Recognition.
The machine fired ten missiles towards the Zlikan base. The MLRS guides were installed under the body of a Mitsubishi Fuso dump truck, which allowed the use of a tilt system for missile guidance. The machine received 17 guides for launching ammunition. For the remote launch of rockets, the installation was equipped with a remote control.
The publication notes that after the launch of the missiles, the car was abandoned. Previously, installations based on civilian vehicles were also used by the Hamas group.
In January, a homemade armored vehicle based on the Soviet BMP-1 was spotted in Syria. The car received a protected turret for a large-caliber machine gun.
In September 2021, a homemade armored car based on a truck with armored elements and loopholes for firing small arms was shown on Syrian territory.
