The use of the Belarusian light grenade launcher complex "Sapphire" was shown on video. Unlike heavy analogues, the new grenade launcher does not unmask the shooter with the sound of a shot and does not leave a trajectory trace.
According to the director of the defense enterprise Viktor Mozheyko, the uniqueness of the new weapon lies not only in its small size, but also in the grenade, which has a cumulative high-explosive fragmentation warhead.
Thanks to the smooth launch of the 61-mm grenade, when fired, it does not unmask the shooter and does not leave a trajectory trace. As a result, the grenade launcher is difficult to track on the battlefield.
"A distinctive feature is the ability to fire from small and enclosed spaces. If the distance was closer than 15 meters from the shooter to the barrier, then there was a danger for the grenade launcher. Now the disadvantage has been removed - the distance has been reduced to two meters," Viktor Mozheyko said.
Note that the Sapphire light grenade launcher is capable of hitting armored targets at a range of up to 1000 meters. The length of the grenade launcher is 750 millimeters, the weight is 4.2 kilograms. It is possible to conduct multiple rocket launchers and choose an anti-tank or assault (anti-bunker) mode of action.
