Washington. 1st of February. INTERFAX - The American command is still confident that the Russian Federation allegedly concentrated more than 100 thousand of its troops near the border with Ukraine. "We talked about more than 100 thousand people. We do not change our opinion about such a number (of Russian troops - IF)," Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing on Tuesday. He also said that "additional units of the Russian Federation continue to arrive at the Ukrainian border, including in recent days."
At the same time, Kirby noted that "there is no talk of an imminent invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine," that "the Russian leadership has not yet decided on such a scenario for further actions."
Russia's permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, last Monday denied allegations about 100,000 Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.
