Washington. 1st of February. INTERFAX - The reaction of the United States to Russia's security proposals did not come as a surprise to Moscow, otherwise Washington is ready for diplomatic cooperation, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday.
"I think it was not a surprise for the Russian Federation or for anyone else that we stated in the response (to the Russian Federation's proposals on security - IF), since we made it very clear," Price said during a briefing.
He added that there are areas in which Washington, its allies and partners are ready to interact with Russia and conduct constructive discussions.
"There are areas where we will state our security concerns, Russia will state what concerns it, and we will see if there is an opportunity to resolve this," Price said.
"If we want this, we need intensive, constructive, serious, sustainable diplomacy. We are ready for this," the representative of the State Department stressed.
In turn, White House press Secretary Jen Psaki also said that the door to diplomacy with Moscow is still open.
"We are ready (for further contacts - IF). The door of diplomacy remains open," Psaki said.
She once again reminded that US President Joe Biden, if necessary, would be ready to hold another conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, Price said that the United States had made it clear to Russia that it would not allow attempts to achieve a change in NATO's "open door" policy and Washington's cooperation with other sovereign countries.
