Moscow. 1st of February. INTERFAX - Ukraine's accession to NATO will create a threat of a military conflict between Russia and the alliance over Crimea, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"In the doctrinal documents of Ukraine itself, it is written that they are going to return Crimea, including by military means. It's not what they say in public, it's written in the documents," Putin said at a press conference following talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"Let's imagine that Ukraine is a member of NATO, is stuffed with weapons, there are modern shock systems, like in Poland and Romania, and begins an operation in the Crimea, now I'm not even talking about Donbass," Putin continued.
At the same time, he stressed that Crimea is a sovereign Russian territory.
