Washington. January 31. INTERFAX - The United States has changed the readiness status of units in case they can be transferred to Europe if the situation around Ukraine becomes more complicated, however, no decisions have been made yet, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing on Monday.
"We have changed the readiness status for 8,5 thousand American soldiers, they are undergoing the necessary training, but there have been no decisions on their involvement," he said.
According to Kirby, the final decision should be made by the commander-in-chief (US President) after consultations with NATO allies.
At the same time, Kirby noted that Ukraine will continue to receive military assistance from the United States.
