Moscow. January 31. INTERFAX - Shvabe Holding of Rostec State Corporation has developed a monocular - a portable device for remote monitoring.
"Unlike analogs, the device allows you to "see" equally well over long distances day and night. Its potential consumers are hunters, tourists, rescuers, extreme athletes and law enforcement officers," the message posted on the Rostec website said on Monday.
A monocular is a device in the form of a single eyepiece. The device can be used both for hand-held observation and by attaching it to a mask or helmet. Usually, a day-night monocular uses day and night lenses, while the range of object recognition at night is significantly reduced compared to daytime. "The new development of the Moscow Sapphire plant of the Shvabe holding eliminates this drawback: the device "sees" equally well at any time of the day," the message says.
"To achieve this effect, engineers paired the lens components of the day and night lens with dichroic mirrors. Such a design solution increased the "range" of the monocular at night and increased the clarity of the image when observed in a narrow angle of the field of view," the press release says.
"The second patented solution is to protect the monocular from powerful light interference. The device has become resistant to them and does not blind the observer in the light of an oncoming lantern, headlights, Moon and other objects. This was achieved due to a photodetector connected to a night lens. Structurally, both of these changes can be implemented in one product," the state corporation reports.
According to Oleg Yevtushenko, Rostec's executive director, "the optical devices manufactured by Shvabe Holding have proven themselves all over the world."
"Users choose them for their durability, reliability and ease of handling. At the same time, the holding's engineers are constantly working to improve the characteristics of their products. New solutions for the monocular significantly increase the efficiency of the device and provide new opportunities for search and rescue operations, protection of objects, observation of nature objects and so on," Yevtushenko said, whose words are given in the message.
It is also reported that "in 2021, Shvabe created a portable monocular TNM. The device combines the functions of a night vision device and a thermal imager.
