NASA previously noted that they expect to continue cooperation on the ISS at least until 2030
MOSCOW, January 28. /tass/. Bill Nelson, head of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), hopes that political differences between Washington and Moscow will not prevent cooperation with the Russian Federation on the International Space Station (ISS). This was reported on Friday by CNN.
"There may be political problems. But when it comes to our civilian space program and our cooperation, [we] never face a problem, and I expect that it will continue to be so," Nelson said in an interview with the TV channel.
In April 2021, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that the state of the ISS leaves much to be desired, so Russia can focus on creating its own project - the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS). On September 2, Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin announced that the start of the ROSS deployment is scheduled in five to six years. NASA noted that they expect to continue cooperation on the ISS at least until 2030.
On December 17 last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry published Russian draft agreements on security guarantees that Moscow expects from Washington and NATO. Two treaties (with the United States and members of the alliance) imply, among other things, the rejection of NATO's expansion to the east, including the refusal to accept Ukraine into its membership, as well as the introduction of restrictions on the deployment of serious offensive weapons, in particular nuclear ones. On January 26, the United States and NATO provided Russia with their written response to Moscow's proposals on security guarantees. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday, the US responses do not contain a positive reaction to the main question - about the inadmissibility of further expansion of NATO.
