Popular Mechanics: eight warning signs will indicate the proximity of war in Ukraine
Kyle Mizokami, a columnist for the American magazine Popular Mechanics, described what would happen in the two weeks preceding the start of a possible war in Ukraine. In his opinion, eight warning signs can indicate the proximity of the conflict.
"The governments of the United States and European countries increasingly consider it very likely that Russia will attack Ukraine in one form or another," the author says.
The observer claims that two weeks before the war, Russia will begin to accumulate fuel and ammunition reserves in the regions bordering Ukraine, as well as deploy field hospitals. At the same time, "Russian military hackers will target Ukraine's computer networks, especially those belonging to the national government, utilities, financial institutions and emergency services." Also, according to Mizokami, we should expect Global Positioning System (GPS) spoofing.
A week before the war, Russia may send several of its nuclear submarines with cruise missiles to the Atlantic Ocean, where they can be used to attack cargo ships supplying Ukraine with military equipment. At the same time, in the areas bordering Ukraine, Russia will allegedly begin to actively use electronic warfare (EW). According to the observer, a temporary shutdown of social networks is possible.
The day before the start of the conflict, according to Mizokami, so-called green men may appear in Ukraine and Russian aerial unmanned reconnaissance may become more active.
In January, the American edition of The Drive, which drew attention to the video posted on YouTube, wrote that the territorial defense units of Ukraine can be armed with pre-war DP-27 machine guns.
