NASA: we welcome the participation of Russian cosmonauts in pre-flight training in the USA
NASA welcomes the participation of cosmonauts from Russia in pre-flight training in the United States. This was stated by a representative of the space agency in connection with the resolution of the visa problem that arose with the cosmonaut of Roscosmos Nikolai Chub, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the agency's statement, NASA welcomes foreign partners to participate in the planned training at the Johnson Space Center.
Earlier it was reported that after the scandal with the non-receipt of documents for entry into the United States, Chubu was issued an American visa. As noted by Roscosmos, the non-issuance of a visa to Chubu "called into question the very safety of the Russian cosmonaut's stay on the ISS and the safety of the American segment of the station due to the unpreparedness of the Russian cosmonaut in case of an emergency situation."
On January 22, the United States did not grant Chub a visa without explanation. The flight of the Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for spring 2023.
