The CSTO is ready to provide Bishkek and Dushanbe with the necessary assistance in resolving the conflict
Moscow. January 27. INTERFAX - Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas called on the Tajik and Kyrgyz sides to immediately cease fire on the border between these countries, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told reporters on Thursday.
"Stanislav Zas has just had telephone talks with Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Nasrullo Mahmudzoda and Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov, during which the Secretary General of the CSTO called for an immediate ceasefire between the parties on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan," Zainetdinov said.
According to Zas, quoted by the CSTO press secretary, "the renewed clashes on the border, as a result of which there are wounded, are of serious concern."
"The armed confrontation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border should be stopped immediately. The conflict must be resolved exclusively at the negotiating table by peaceful means. For this, the CSTO is ready to provide Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with the necessary assistance in resolving the conflict. I am confident that the leadership of both CSTO member states will find mutually acceptable ways to resolve this complex border issue," Zas said.
