The Drive: The USA handed over the M141 BDM hand grenade launcher to Ukraine
The United States handed over to Ukraine the M141 Bunker Defeat Munition (BDM) hand grenade launcher, designed to destroy protected targets at short distances. The possibilities of the weapons sent to Kiev were revealed The Drive.
The publication reports that the M141 BDM is a single-shot launcher equipped with an unguided 83-millimeter rocket projectile capable of piercing concrete fortifications and earth barriers.
The publication recalls that the assault M141 BDM is a derivative of the Mk 153 Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW). The first, unlike the second, uses a high-explosive fragmentation projectile with an effective firing range of up to 250 meters. According to The Drive, the M141 BDM resembles a modern version of the obsolete M72 Light Anti-Tank (LAW) disposable hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher.
The publication notes that the supplied weapons can be used in urban battles against armored vehicles, and will also be useful for setting ambushes on roads used by supply and support vehicles.
In January, The Drive wrote that the United Kingdom on military transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster III delivered to Ukraine, probably hundreds of portable anti-tank guided missiles Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW). Defensive weapons will act as a "deterrent to future Russian aggression."
