MOSCOW, January 26/ Sputnik Radio. In NATO's response to Russia's proposals on security guarantees, "there are no serious concessions," the DPA news agency reports, citing sources in the alliance. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier it became known that the bloc intends to present its reaction to Moscow's security initiatives on Wednesday.
According to the agency, this includes the requirements for the non-expansion of the alliance and the withdrawal of the military contingent from the Eastern European member countries of the organization.
In the document, as journalists note, there are points about the readiness of the bloc to discuss disarmament and arms control.
At the same time, the North Atlantic Alliance's response to Moscow will not be published yet.
At the end of 2021, Russia published drafts of a treaty with the United States and an agreement with NATO on security guarantees.
Moscow, in particular, demands from Western partners legal guarantees against further expansion of NATO to the east, from joining the bloc of Ukraine and from the creation of military bases in post-Soviet countries.
The initiative of the Russian side contains a clause on the non-deployment of NATO strike weapons near the borders of the Russian Federation and the withdrawal of alliance forces in Eastern Europe to the positions of 1997.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Moscow will take measures in the absence of a constructive response from the West on security guarantees.
