Washington. January 25. INTERFAX - US President Joe Biden during a videoconference with European leaders discussed strengthening the "eastern flank of NATO" in the context of the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine, the White House said.
"Leaders (...) We discussed joint efforts to deter further Russian aggression against Ukraine, including preparations for large-scale consequences and serious economic losses to Russia for such actions, as well as issues of strengthening security on the eastern flank of NATO," the message reads.
The White House press service noted that the participants of the videoconference "confirmed the continuing concern about the build-up of Russian military power on the borders of Ukraine and expressed their support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity."
They stressed their readiness for "close consultations" with allies, as well as within the EU, NATO and the OSCE, the statement said.
