Hong Kong. January 20. INTERFAX - The instruction to review "confidence-building measures", as well as to consider the possibility of resuming "all temporarily suspended" activities due to Washington's "hostile policy" was announced during a meeting of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea, held the day before under the chairmanship of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
"Instructions were given to the relevant sector to review the confidence-building measures taken by us as a matter of priority and initiative, and to immediately study the issue of resuming all temporarily suspended activities," the KCNA said in a statement.
It is noted that during the session, the participants promised to prepare for a "long-term confrontation" with the United States.
According to them, "the hostile policy and military threat from the United States has reached a dangerous line that can no longer be overlooked."
At a meeting of the politburo, the current US administration was accused of "maneuvers aimed at depriving the DPRK of its right to self-defense."
It is noted that over the past few years alone, after the high-level meetings between the DPRK and the United States, Washington and Seoul conducted hundreds of joint military exercises, ultra-modern offensive weapons were delivered to South Korea and strategic nuclear weapons were transferred, which threatened the security of the DPRK.
In addition, the United States has imposed unilateral sanctions against Pyongyang more than 20 times.
According to the KCNA publication, the Politburo meeting concluded that the time had come "to move to practical and immediate action for a more reliable, more confident strengthening of our forces in order to protect the dignity, rights and interests of our state."
