MOSCOW, January 20. /tass/. Russian peacekeepers at observation posts in Nagorno-Karabakh, due to the increase in the number of emergency situations, worked out actions when declaring an alarm. This was reported to journalists in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"Due to the fact that cases of emergency situations have recently become more frequent along the line of demarcation of the parties, the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are training using modern weapons and military equipment. The peacekeepers are also working out various options for repelling a conditional attack on the post," said Mikhail Yezhov, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
According to the military department, Russian peacekeepers conduct regular training while serving at observation posts in Nagorno-Karabakh. "When working out actions on the "alarm", military personnel from the peacekeeping contingent work out the occupation of places in shooting positions in order to defend the post, as well as to block the highway in order to stop traffic," the ministry explained.
The Defense Ministry said that during the training, after receiving the signal, the peacekeepers took up defense in pre-equipped positions in the shortest possible time. "To strengthen the defense of the post, duty units on BTR-82A armored personnel carriers were involved," the military department noted.
They also stressed that all observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are equipped with "Checkpoint" fortifications designed to protect military personnel from small arms and shrapnel, as well as conducting circular surveillance of the nearby territory.
