MOSCOW, January 19/ Sputnik Radio. French President Emmanuel Macron announced European proposals on security and stability that will be proposed for discussion with Russia, RIA Novosti reports.
In December, the Russian Foreign Ministry conveyed to Washington its proposals on security guarantees in Europe. The documents, in particular, exclude the further expansion of NATO to the east and the entry into it of the countries of the former USSR. The draft also provides for the rejection of any military activity of the alliance in Ukraine, Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia.
On January 10, Russia and the United States held consultations in Geneva on Moscow's proposals on security guarantees, followed by a meeting of the NATO–Russia Council in Brussels on January 12 and an OSCE meeting in Vienna on January 13.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Russia expects a response from the United States and NATO on security guarantees in the near future.
