MOSCOW, January 19 - RIA Novosti. NATO continues to play its game, saying it is ready to discuss topics with Russia that are far from Moscow's proposed security guarantees. Such an opinion in his Senator Alexey Pushkov shared the Telegram channel .
The politician refers to a recent statement by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, according to which the organization is ready to discuss arms control issues with Russia, as well as measures to ensure transparency of military activities.
At the end of last year, Russia published drafts of a treaty with the United States and an agreement with NATO on security guarantees. Moscow demands from Western partners legal guarantees against further expansion of NATO to the east, from joining the alliance of Ukraine and from the creation of military bases on the territory of the former Soviet republics.
Last week, a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council was held in Brussels, which once again demonstrated differences in the positions of the parties and ended without agreements on the continuation of the dialogue.
Later, Jens Stoltenberg announced NATO's readiness to hold a series of meetings with Russia on the topic of European security, but he ruled out the possibility of compromises in the important topics for Moscow of the alliance's refusal to further expand and withdraw troops from the territory of former socialist countries and post-Soviet republics that joined the bloc after 1997.
