Washington. January 19. INTERFAX - A senior representative of the US State Department told reporters that the US considers the relocation of Russian military to Belarus as a possible preparation for the invasion of Ukraine.
"Reports on the movements of Russian troops in the direction of Belarus, which are allegedly carried out under the pretext of regularly planned joint military exercises, cause concern. The timing is remarkable, and, of course, raises concerns that Russia may deploy troops in Belarus under the guise of joint military exercises to possibly attack Ukraine from the north," she said at a briefing.
The diplomat noted that, in her opinion, "the participation of Belarus in such an attack would be completely unacceptable for Belarusians (...), as well as for us and our allies and partners."
