Moscow. January 18. INTERFAX - Information preparations are underway for NATO's advance into Ukraine, in this regard, it is important to inform the parliaments of all countries about the possible consequences, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said.
"NATO seeks to occupy Ukraine," Volodin said on Tuesday at the opening of the spring session of the State Duma.
He noted that "in recent months, hysteria has been heard around Ukraine: congressmen and representatives of the State Department are scaring the whole world, allegedly, with the upcoming "invasion of Russia."
"It is quite obvious that Washington is trying to justify its expansion and the advance of NATO troops to the Russian borders," the State Duma speaker said.
Here the United States "operates according to the standard scheme, nothing new: first comes up with an image of the enemy, and then "heroically" fights with him, as it was in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yugoslavia," Volodin said.
"All this can be regarded as information preparation for NATO's advance into Ukrainian territory. Their instructors, advisers are already there. Now they are thinking how to justify the deployment of troops," the chairman of the State Duma explained.
In this regard, the dialogue on security guarantees is extremely important, he added.
"We must do everything to preserve peace on the planet," the State Duma speaker said.
