MINSK, January 17 - RIA Novosti. The purpose of checking the reaction forces of the Union State is to assess readiness to neutralize threats at the borders, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
Earlier, Pavel Muraveyko, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, said that a sudden check of the forces and means of reaction of the Union State would be carried out jointly with Russia.
"The main purpose of the inspection will be to assess the readiness of the military component to fulfill the tasks of neutralizing threats on the borders of the Union State," the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic said.
The ministry added that during the inspection they plan to work out the regrouping of forces over long distances for the operational creation of groups of troops.
"It is planned to work out the issues of regrouping over long distances for the operational creation of groups of troops (forces), as well as to perform a number of combat training tasks under the leadership of the commanders of the associations," the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the republic said.
