Moscow. January 17th. INTERFAX - Russia expects to receive concrete answers from the United States and NATO on security guarantees, believes that contacts on this matter will take place in the next few days, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We are firmly counting on the concrete answers promised to us to the draft documents that Russia has handed over to the United States and NATO members," Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday, answering a question from Interfax.
"There are reasons to believe that some contacts on this topic will take place these days," he added.
According to the minister, "in a concentrated form" Moscow's questions boil down to how specifically the West plans to fulfill its obligations enshrined in OSCE documents.
Answering a question from Interfax about whether Russia would be ready to stand alone against the West if negotiations on security guarantees fail, Lavrov noted that Russia does not build a policy based on the principle of "what will happen if".
