MOSCOW, January 17 - RIA Novosti. The possible deployment of NATO military personnel in Estonia is proof of the validity of Russia's concerns and the fact that it is not Russia that is escalating tensions, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"As for Estonia's requests and so on to deploy additional military contingents on its territory, this is exactly proof of the validity of our concerns, and this is proof that we are not the cause of the escalation of tension," he told reporters.
At the end of 2021, Russia published drafts of a treaty with the United States and an agreement with NATO on security guarantees. Moscow, in particular, demands from Western partners legal guarantees against further expansion of NATO to the east, from joining the bloc of Ukraine and from the creation of military bases in post-Soviet countries.
