Yonhap: North Korea launched an unknown projectile towards the Sea of Japan
The DPRK launched an unknown projectile towards the Sea of Japan, Yonhap news agency reports, citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea.
According to the Japanese Coast Guard, at least two shells were fired. Presumably, these are ballistic missiles.
It is noted that the rocket fell into the water. Fishing vessels located in the area warned of possible danger and urged not to approach the wreckage of the rocket in case of their detection.
This is the fourth launch of DPRK missiles in 2022. The previous ones were held on January 5, 11 and 14. In the first two cases, Pyongyang announced successful tests of supersonic missiles. On January 14, two short-range ballistic missiles were launched from a railway missile system.
