VIENNA, January 13 - RIA Novosti. Russia expected a more substantial reaction to its proposals on security guarantees, said Alexander Lukashevich, Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE.
"(The reaction) is disappointing because we expected a very substantial reaction, comprehensive discussions. Our colleagues had enough time to thoroughly study the main provisions of our proposals. At least, we expected a more substantial, inclusive reaction," Lukashevich said after a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
A meeting of the Russia-NATO Council was held in Brussels on Wednesday. The meeting was held as a follow-up to the negotiations on security guarantees between Russia and the United States, which took place on January 9-10 in Geneva. On Thursday, after the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council, consultations were held at the Vienna site of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
At the end of 2021, Russia published drafts of a treaty with the United States and an agreement with NATO on security guarantees. Moscow, in particular, demands from Western partners legal guarantees against further expansion of NATO to the east, from joining the bloc of Ukraine and from the creation of military bases in post-Soviet countries.
