On Thursday, an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CSTO member states was held via videoconference. On behalf of Russia, Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu took part in it.
"The ministers discussed the results of the peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan, as well as issues of ensuring regional security and improving mechanisms for rapid response to emerging threats," the CSTO secretariat reported.
It is noted that following the meeting, the heads of defense departments signed a joint decision "on the organization of the return of military contingents of the CSTO member states to permanent deployment points."
The day before, RG reported that the first military transport aircraft with Russian paratroopers took off from Alma-Ata to Ivanovo.
Earlier it was reported that the CSTO peacekeepers began transferring posts for the protection of facilities to Kazakh security forces.
