The Russian leader is convinced that peacekeepers have played an important role in solving the crisis in the republic
MOSCOW, January 13. /tass/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have completed their task in Kazakhstan, so now they need to return home.
"In general, it is necessary to return home. We have fulfilled our task," the head of state said at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Thursday.
Putin is convinced that the peacekeepers played an important role in solving the crisis. "Sergey Kuzhugetovich, the CSTO peacekeeping forces have played a very important role in stabilizing the situation in Kazakhstan, our closest partner and ally. This is the assessment of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev himself," Putin said.
The Russian leader noted that "it was possible to secure all vital facilities, infrastructure facilities, release a significant number of military personnel, law enforcement forces to conduct special operations inside the country."
According to Putin, the operation of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in Kazakhstan was organized quickly, smoothly and efficiently, while Russian aviation played a big role.
"Our military transport aviation played a big role here, these are absolutely obvious things. We quickly managed to concentrate our necessary forces and means, resources. Everything literally worked like clockwork: quickly, smoothly and efficiently," he said.
The President stressed that the assistance from the CSTO made it possible to restore order in Kazakhstan, thanks to this, the republic can continue to calmly resolve issues of a socio-economic and political nature.
"The fact that the situation was restored with the help of the CSTO forces, the rule of law is being restored, this is very important," the head of the Russian state stressed.
He noted that in fact it was the first such operation of the CSTO forces. "Together we have accomplished a very important task. This will allow the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan to solve issues of a socio-economic and political nature in a free, calm mode, in dialogue with society. This is very important," Putin said.
