Moscow. January 13. INTERFAX - Moscow sees no reason to hold a new round of negotiations with the United States on security guarantees in the near future, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday.
"We propose to follow the text article by article, to work to bring them to the level when they were ready for signing. This is not possible today, because according to the key elements of these texts, the United States and its allies are actually telling us "no". And where they say "yes, let's discuss further," we, in turn, note that for all the importance and seriousness of these plots, they are secondary to the same non-expansion of NATO. To a certain extent, this is a dead end or a difference in approaches," the deputy minister said on RTVI.
"But without clarifying whether there is at least some resource, some margin of flexibility on the other side to work on serious subjects, I don't see any reason to sit down in the coming days, reconvene and start the same discussions," Ryabkov stressed.
"By and large, we need a reaction from that side, not in the form of just comments or oral statements, but something more familiar to diplomats: for example, some texts, some comments put on paper. If our colleagues go in this direction, it will help us decide in favor of continuing the formalized dialogue and such work, which in this case is simply necessary if we really want to agree," the deputy minister said.
