TSAMTO, January 13. On January 11, the Swedish company Saab announced the signing of a framework agreement with the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense for the supply of 84-mm Karl-Gustav M4 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers and ammunition for them.
Simultaneously with the signing of the framework agreement, the Defense Materiel Agency (DMA) under the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania placed the first order for ammunition for Carl Gustaf in the amount of about 150 million Swedish kronor ($ 16.5 million).
Thus, the Lithuanian Armed Forces joined the framework agreement signed in early 2018 by the Swedish Armed Forces Material Support Agency (FMV) with Estonia and Latvia.
According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, joining this agreement will allow purchasing ammunition of various types for the Karl-Gustav grenade launcher on the best terms and at the best prices. The term of the agreement is 7 years.
For the first time, Carl Gustav grenade launchers were purchased jointly by Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 2007 based on the results of a tender. The countries have signed separate contracts with the manufacturer in order to ensure supplies in accordance with the requirements of each customer. The contracts were signed in 2007: July 11 in Riga, August 23 in Tallinn and September 27 in Vilnius.
Since the first demonstration in 2014, Saab has signed contracts for the supply of Karl Gustav M4 grenade launchers with fourteen countries around the world.
