Scientists will be able to conduct high-precision studies of galaxies and star formations
Moscow. January 13. INTERFAX - Shvabe Holding of Rostec State Corporation has sent a set of large-sized optics intended for Turkish partners to the Belgian company AMOS.
"Together with the Belgian company Schwabe, it is implementing a project for an observatory in Eastern Anatolia (DAG)," the holding said in a statement issued on Thursday.
The work was performed by the Lytkarinsky Optical Glass Factory. The holding company manufactured a secondary convex hyperbolic mirror with a diameter of 764 mm and a tertiary mirror of elliptical shape, the flat working surface of which is 890x650 mm. At the same time, the shaping of the main concave hyperbolic mirror of the telescope with a diameter of four meters has been completed, the report says.
According to Alexey Patrikeev, General Director of Shvabe, the Turkish observatory has received Russian optics, and in the near future it will "begin to function in full."
"The manufactured mirrors as part of the telescope guarantee exceptional image detail with a clearly defined structure. Thus, scientists will be able to conduct high-precision studies of galaxies, star formations, planets and exoplanets," Patrikeev said, quoted by the Shvabe press service.
