YEKATERINBURG, January 13. /tass/. The new commander of the 201st military base in Tajikistan, Colonel Yevgeny Kovylin, has been introduced to the leadership of the Central Military District (CVO). This is stated in a message distributed on Thursday by the press service of the district.
"The commander of the troops of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, introduced Colonel Yevgeny Kovylin, the appointed commander of the military base stationed in the Republic of Tajikistan, to the leadership of the military district via video conference," the message reads.
Kovylin graduated from the Kazan Higher Military Tank Command School, then the M.V. Frunze Combined Arms Academy. He successively passed all positions from platoon commander to chief of staff of the district training center for the training of junior specialists. He served in the regions of the Urals, the Volga region, and Tajikistan. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, the Suvorov Medal, as well as awards of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
