Google and Ford, together with four other partners, founded the Ripple project, which offers the introduction of radar standards for small electronic devices with an emphasis on "respecting the privacy" of their users.

The project was published by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). From now on, in accordance with it, gadget manufacturers can equip their devices with a miniature radar to perform certain functions. For example, using gestures, it will be possible to drive a car without touching the steering wheel, monitor health status, monitor physical activity during sports, as well as search for people in buildings. Some details of the use of radars are already known. In particular, at first, the creators of the devices will have to additionally use special extensions, but in the future the Ripple team intends to embed them in new versions of the standard in advance. The leading positions of Google and Ford in the project are quite understandable. They have already managed to integrate radars into some of their products – for example, the Nest smart hub and the Ford 360 driver's assistant. The creators of Ripple are sure that the more actively manufacturers of various devices will implement radars in them, the more they will be in demand from potential users.
