TSAMTO, January 11. The Czech Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a framework agreement with the Czech company CB SERVIS CENTRUM s.r.o. for the supply of Minimi light machine guns to the Armed Forces of the country.
On December 21, the agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defense by Deputy Minister for Armaments and Procurement Lubor Koudelka and Head of CB SERVIS CENTRUM s.r.o. Lubomir Havelka. The contract was signed based on the results of the tender.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, up to 949 Minimi machine guns of 7.62 x 51 mm and 5.56 x 45 mm caliber worth up to 1.12 billion will be delivered to the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. CZK, including VAT. Deliveries should be completed during 2022-2025.
The framework agreement allows the Czech Armed Forces to purchase spare parts that will ensure the repair of weapons for 10 years. The delivery package also includes various accessories, including optoelectronic sights, cases, packaging, etc.
With the conclusion of the framework agreement, the final, 3rd stage of the rearmament of the units of the Czech Armed Forces with modern effective small arms begins with the possibility of its integration into the modular individual equipment of an infantryman of the 21st century. In addition, the compatibility of small arms with the armed forces of other NATO countries will be ensured.
FN Minimi is a 5.56 mm light machine gun . It is produced by the Belgian company FN Herstal. The machine gun was introduced in the late 1970s and is now in service with more than 75 countries around the world. In November 2013, FN Herstal introduced an improved version of the Minimi Mk machine gun based on combat experience.3. It can be converted to fire 5.56x45 mm or 7.62x51 mm cartridges.
