Moscow. January 10th. INTERFAX - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has demonstrated its potential in Kazakhstan, the ability to act quickly and decisively, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The CSTO has demonstrated its potential, the ability to act quickly, decisively and effectively," Putin said on Monday at an extraordinary session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The Russian President stressed that each of the allies has contributed to the fulfillment of the tasks set as part of the CSTO grouping. The units of all the CSTO member states, without exception, have joined the group and are already actively conducting operational activities.
"This shows that the long-term painstaking work carried out within the framework of the CSTO to form an integral security system of the participating states, including the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO, is yielding results," Putin stressed.
The President noted the importance of the fact that "the military of our countries are training according to common programs, equipped with common or compatible models of weapons, equipment and communications."
Putin also said that the skills of deploying CSTO peacekeepers were honed during regular joint exercises, in particular, at the recent maneuvers of the CSTO "Indestructible Brotherhood", organized taking into account the experience gained by the Russian military in Syria.
