TSAMTO, January 10. The Estonian Defense Ministry intends to supply Ukraine with Javelin ATGM and 122-mm howitzers from the presence of the country's Armed Forces.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was announced on New Year's Eve by the head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense Peeter Kuymet.
"We are currently considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with Javelin ATGM, as well as 122 mm howitzers and ammunition for them," P. Kuimet said in an interview with Estonian media.
The official explained that before making a final decision on the supply of lethal weapons to another country, it is necessary to obtain permission from the country of origin of the missiles – the United States, as well as from the former owners of howitzers – Finland and Germany. Thus, the timing of assistance will largely depend on how negotiations with the allies will take place.
Estonia received Javelin ATGM from the USA, having bought some of them, and received the other part as military aid. The cost of one rocket ranges from 75 thousand to 130 thousand euros, depending on the terms of the contract and on the specific type of rocket. Estonia plans to supply Ukraine with several dozen such missiles, RIA Novosti reports.
